Journey with us into the cosmic realm where two private companies are transforming ESG principles into interstellar reality. Explore the story where transparency, accountability, and our shared future drive sustainability. Join the cosmic adventure shaping a sustainable tomorrow!

As we reach new frontiers outside our planet, a groundbreaking partnership between two trailblazer companies -Privateer Space and Celestron- are transforming stargazers into space environmentalists. In the last decades space exploration and technology are advancing at an unprecedented pace, and the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values has transcended our planet and ventured into the vacuum of space. Privateer Space, co-founded by Apple luminary Steve Wozniak, has teamed up with Celestron, the world's leading telescope maker, to create a global movement for space sustainability.

Imagine millions of amateur astronomers, equipped with telescopes, actively contributing to the cause of space sustainability. What might have sounded like science fiction a few decades ago has now become a reality. By harnessing the power of the world's #1 telescope maker, Privateer aims to crowdsource satellite and space junk tracking on an unprecedented scale. This collaboration empowers telescope owners to go beyond stargazing; they become active participants in the preservation of Earth's orbital highways.

We humans have for years followed a detrimental custom of leaving trash wherever we go, and unfortunately, space has not been the exception. The collaboration between Privateer and Celestron addresses this critical challenge: the escalating quantity of human-made objects in Earth's orbit. With satellites and rockets launched into space with increased frequency, the need for accurate tracking and monitoring has never been more vital. Currently, only 27,000 pieces of space debris are being tracked, leaving the actual number, estimated to be closer to 100 million, largely unaccounted for. The mission in this partnership -to enhance transparency, predictability, and accountability in space- aligns seamlessly with ESG values.

With collisions of space debris and satellites being something so abstract for regular people, it is only logical to ask why it matters. The significance and impact of this partnership extends far beyond tracking what is orbiting earth or cleaning space. Our daily lives depend on satellite services, from communication and positioning to climate monitoring and financial transactions. And with increased satellites being put in orbit, the chance of debris colliding with satellites increases, particularly if debris are not accurately tracked. As space-based services become indispensable, the need for sustainable practices is paramount. ESG values, once confined to Earthly concerns, have now become integral to our endeavors outside our blue planet.

The partnership commitment to creating a transparent and open platform aligns with the principles of collaboration, peace, transparency and prosperity. By promoting responsible collaboration among nations, policymakers, and private ventures, these companies are shaping the future of the space economy and the responsibility we have in maintaining the planet's orbit as a safe place. This collaboration not only ensures our connectivity and dependance on digital personal and business transactions on Earth but also paves the way for future actions in space to embed an ESG mentality and mechanisms from the get go.

In the grand canvas of the universe, where stars are born and galaxies collide, the partnership between two visionary enterprises serves as a beacon of hope. As we explore the universe, let us remember that the ESG values we uphold on Earth are equally vital in the cosmos. ESG, once bound within the limits of our atmosphere, has now transcended the confines of our planet and is, quite literally, out of this world.
